21st Annual Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance 2013 Photos

This past weekend was the 21st Annual Palos Verdes Concours d' Elegance held at the Trump National Golf Club. The beautiful golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes is an ideal setting for a collection of concours worthy classic automobiles.

I had not attended the event before so I cruised down to RPV on Sunday to check out the event and see some customers who had vehicles on display. Here are some of my photos from the show.

A classic Chevy Corvette greeted us at the main entrance

Classic cars were parked throughout the holes adjacent to the club house. The cars were sorted by marquee and class.

There were quite a few European cars on display that were past competitors in the California Mille road rally.

I could not recall ever seeing a 1951 Jowett Jupiter. This convertible has some unique design details and attracted quite a crowd most of the day.

There were a few restored road racing vehicles on display including a few Shelby race cars and this Datsun.

There were a lot of classic town cars and coaches. Concours events always attract a nice gathering of classic Packard, Rolls Royce and Hispano-Suiza automobiles.

Very nice Lincoln with dual side spares.

No concours d'elegance is complete without a group of magnificent Duesenberg Phaetons or Sedans like this 1933 Tourster.

This 1929 Bentley 4.5 Liter Tourer is all black but has a body that is partially wrapped in fabric.

This 1923 McFarlan Model 154 Knickerbocker Cabriolet was brought out by the staff of the Nethercutt Museum. Check out the awning that came out of the back.

There were a few American luxury cars on display. There was a nice collection of Lincoln, Buick and Chrysler vehicles at the show.

When is the last time you saw a 1948 Playboy? I could not recall ever seeing one, but it was a cool little convertible.

A very nice 1954 Buick Skylark Convertible

Here is a pair of 1958 GM cousins. A 1958 Buick Limited convertible next to a 1958 Chevy Impala convertible.
This Chrysler New Yorker Wagon was pretty cool.

There were plenty of classic Chevy Corvette and Ford Thunderbird vehicles on display at the Palos Verdes Concours. Since the Corvette is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year there were quite a few 1950's-60s Vettes at the show.

A small, but nice display of vehicles was the Vintage American Speed exhibit. It showcased some nostalgic Bonneville race cars.

Another small class was the Facel Vega category which had a handful of coupes and sedans.

I had a great morning at the car show. Check back for blog coverage next week for photos of the SCCA event at Road America in Wisconsin. It is my first time attending that event, so it should be a fun weekend in the Milwaukee area.
