Photo coverage from the Mecum Auction in Anaheim, Ca

This past Saturday I stopped by the Mecum Auto Auction in Anaheim, Ca on the way to the Big SoCal Euro in San Diego, Ca. The Mecum had a large collection of automobiles up for auction over the weekend. There were 750 cars up for auction over the three day show at the convention center.

The red carpet and featured automobiles.

This was a pretty unique car. This original 1960 Chevy Corvette was a barn find with only 77 miles on it. The paint and interior definitely show their age, but many of the details are in unused condition.

Chevy Chevelle
California Car Cover and I were not exhibiting at the auction, but I wanted to check out all of the cars. You never know which of our friends or customers will be at local car shows, so it was nice to run into a few familiar faces.

Plenty of neon
To start the day, Mecum auctions off collectibles, art and nostalgia, like the neon signs shown above. There is always an assortment of gas pumps and auto displays as well.

1950 Cadillac

One of the vehicles that attracted the most attention over the weekend was the McMullen Roadster. This 1932 Ford was featured in numerous Hot Rod magazines as it was the personal car of Tom McMullen, the late magazine publisher. It is one of the most famous hot rods of all time and went up for sale on Saturday night.

Another featured car at the Mecum Anaheim Auction was the Jack Calori Coupe. This Pebble Beach Award winning 1936 Ford also went up for sale on Saturday night.

Once you left the main hall, there was still aisle after aisle of classics and muscle cars waiting to go across the auction stage. There was something there for everyone to appreciate, new or old.

I have always like the 1966 Dodge Chargers. Just a cool car with a unique shape and interior details.

Those were a lot of the highlights from the auction. Most of the action took place on Friday and Saturday afternoon, but I was glad to be able to check out the auction and see all of the vehicles. Check our You Tube channel for video from the auction later this week.
