Rain or Shine at Mooneyes X-mas Party 2013

This past weekend were the final two car shows of the year for California Car Cover. On Sunday we were out at the last Pomona Swap Meet of the year, but on Saturday we were at Irwindale Speedway for the annual Mooneyes X-Mas Party.

We have been selling Mooneyes products since we started back at 1989. The annual car show and drag race is an event that my colleagues and I look forward to each year. With drag racing, custom cars and pinup girls, Mooneyes always makes sure everyone has a great time. Even though rain put a damper on the cars and the crowd this year, there was still plenty for everyone to check out.

Custom painted Moon Disc that was awarded at the car show.
Before a lot of people entered the speedway I took a lap around the car show to check out all of the customs and classic cars on display.

Even with a chance of rain there were 100's of cars lined up to get into the car show early Saturday morning. Though the long lines did cause a few cars to overheat.

Words to live by.

100's of cars were lined up on Arrow Highway well before the 6am gate opening.

There were plenty of great looking custom Chevy pickups at the show, just like this one.

Custom painted dashboard.

There were plenty of cars already parked and ready before the sun was up.

Now that's a custom grille on the Thunderbird.

Plenty of classic VWs were at the show as well.

A motorcycle photo shoot took place across from our booth. Surprisingly, the California Car Cover Crew members and I were not asked to model.

Unfortunately, once the California Car Cover Crew and I were ready to talk car care, the rain rolled in for a few hours. Instead of a day filled with live music and drag racing, we just had to relax and try to stay dry. There were still plenty of people at the event, so we still had a great time interacting with friends and customers.

The vintage Mooneyes dragster and new Mooneyes funny car were on display.

Now that's a custom van.

Auction goodies.

The sunglasses weren't really needed on Saturday, but I was going to say anything.

The Mooneyes staff hosted a live auction for art and apparel.

The awards and pinup contest cap the event each year.
Thanks again to everyone at Mooneyes for hosting another great event. We look forward to being back there next year and hopefully we get some better weather for the drag racing.
