Monterey Weekend: Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion

Spotted this car first thing at the speedway. This cover got my seal of approval.
I spent Saturday and Sunday in Monterey, California to check out all the automotive events taking place in the area. Between the historic racing, car shows and auctions there was something for every automotive enthusiast. I had never been up there for auction weekend before, so I took some great photos and videos from the past two days. There is so much to show everyone that I am going to break it up a bit this week.
Today's post will feature photos and videos from the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. I drove over to Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca to check out all the historic road racing vehicles on display and on the track.

I was able to watch some classics take a few laps around the famed racetrack.

Not all the action was on the track. In addition to all the racing, there was a lot of other attractions to check out. There were plenty of vendors set up around the facility, plus you could walk through the pits to check out all the vehicles. There were even a few vintage drag racing cars on display.

There was racing held at the track all day. A morning practice session then an afternoon of racing around Laguna Seca. Between all the different cars and categories there was always something cruising by on the track.

One of the more unique attractions was the Shelby display. It was in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Shelby and there were hundreds of cars surrounding the property and within the paddock. The display featured a giant poster of the late Carroll Shelby, plus many other historic Shelby automobiles. Though my favorite vehicle on display was the vintage race car hauler.

During the lunch break the Shelby owners lined up and took a lap around Mazda Raceway.

In addition to the cool race cars in the paddock, there were plenty of other muscle cars and European cars on display in the car corrals.

Almost race time.
