California Christmas with the 1957 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible

For our first holiday catalog of the year we went down to Orange County, Ca to meet with customer John Gilson. John owns a few very nice cars and we were thrilled at the opportunity to photograph his 1957 Oldsmobile 98 convertible.

We first spotted the Olds at this year's Grand National Roadster Show. The vehicle was built by our friends at D&P Classics in Huntington Beach, Ca. We have featured a few cars on our catalog covers built by D&P so you know the work that Darryl and the crew does there.

One-Off Custom Wheels

The vehicle was a multi-year restoration project and you can see the detail work all around the vehicle. The Olds has custom leather interior from Stitchcraft, a padded dashboard and a full length center console.

Custom PPG Vibrance paint gives the red paint a glow in the sun.

The Oldsmobile sits on a Morrison chassis. Stopping power is provided by Baer brakes. The crew at D&P Classics also added a Hartz power convertible top so John can put the easily put the top down for a drive down PCH.

This Olds is no slouch. Under the hood is a 502 GM High Performance engine with a Hogan intake. The polished engine also includes custom built headers and exhaust, an aluminum radiator, and March Performance pulleys.

Do you follow California Car Cover on Instagram? Here are a few cool photos from the photo shoot.

A big thank you goes out to John and Leslie Gilson for letting us photograph their outstanding Oldsmobile and to D&P Classics for their support. Check back next time for more photos from upcoming car shows and more photo shoots.
