Old Town San Diego Car Show

I headed down to San Diego last Saturday morning to check out the Fiesta de Kustom Kulture Car Show in Old Town San Diego. On the way, I stopped at Cars and Coffee in Irvine, Ca to see what was on display.

How about that. A pair of cream 300 SD Mercedes vehicles.
There was some rain on the way to Orange County so the crowd and car count were lighter than usual. It was still worth the stop and hopefully on my next run to San Diego there will be some nicer weather.

The Fiesta de Kustom Kulture took place on San Diego Ave. in Old Town. It was a cool venue that I had never been to. It was a nice event and thanks to our friends at Motor Cult Apparel for letting California Car Cover know about the show. I had a good time checking out the cars. Here are some photo highlights.

A few rock and roll bands played throughout the day.
As the sun came out, so did the people.

Nostalgia drag cars.

It was nice having all the cars lined up on San Diego Ave. I walked back and forth through the cars and in and out of the small shops most of the day. Check out the guy in the yellow shirt. Him and his wife ended up in a lot of my photos and we were not even walking together. I did not notice it until I uploaded the photos when I returned home.

The show was a lot of fun and drew a lot of people for its first year. I look forward to seeing how the show grows in the coming years.

NHRA U.S. Nationals Chevy Camaro Car Cover

Last week's NHRA US Nationals was the debut of Arnie Martel's 2011 Chevy Camaro NHRA Super Stock car. To keep the car clean in between runs, California Car Cover made a custom cover for his Chevy. As you can see the vehicle is not stock, so will some dimension sheets and diagrams we constructed a great looking cover for the Speedco Camaro.
The cover had to accommodate the rear wing and parachute.
It also had to be long enough to cover the front spoiler and fit well around the mirrors and and hood scoop.

Embroidery and California Car Cover logo on the front.

Also, on display at the US Nationals was a 1957 Chevy owned by Jeg's mail order. They needed a black car cover to keep the vehicle clean overnight at the racetrack. They ordered a custom cover with the California Car Cover logo on the rear and Jeg's added the custom screening on the front and sides.

Montana Auto Museum

While visiting some friends in Montana I saw a flier at my hotel for the Montana Auto Museum. On my way from Butte to Missoula I was passing through Deer Lodge, so I figured I might as well check the place out. Though I was on vacation I figured the fans of California Car Cover would enjoy seeing some photos of classic cars. The museum had a surprisingly nice collection of vehicles. Here are some photos from the stop.
I arrived late in the day so I could not visit both the auto and prison museum, so hopefully I can make it work next trip. The auto museum has over 100 cars, mainly of which are classic American automobiles.

The hanging ads for Burma-Shave were pretty cool. There were quite a few of them in the hallways.

Most of the collection was American cars from the 1920-30s. Aside from the usual Ford Model As and Ts, the collection had some Packard and La Salle vehicles too.

I love early 50s Ford vehicles, so I was happy to spot some early models on the left.
There was a decent collection of 50s Chevy vehicles. You will notice a row of Tri 5 Chevy classics in a variety of colors.

I enjoyed how the museum displayed the cars. The vehicles were grouped by make and era. The 55-57 Chevy cars were all together, as were the 1967-69 Chevy Camaros.

If you ever find yourself on the I-90 in Montana, the auto museum is worth checking out. It was a nice break from the highway driving.

September Catalog Cover: Town and Country

Long time California Car Cover customer Rob Raznick has a few beautiful automobiles and we were thrilled to have a chance to visit his house to take photos of them for the September 2011 California Car Cover catalog.
The featured car on the cover was the Town and Country, but the 1948 Mercury Woodie and 1929 Packard Sport Phaeton are exceptional cars as well.

All of the classic cars from the cover have custom California Car Cover Dustop covers. The Dustop material is virtually dust proof and great for stored vehicles.
