Penta Motorsports as our Santa's Toy Shop for Holiday 2016

Each year for our annual holiday gift guide, we like to feature a local customer's shop or garage as our Santa's Toy Shop setting. This year, the California Car Cover Media Team only had a short drive over to Penta Motorsports. Penta Motorsports is around the corner from California Car Cover in Canoga Park, Ca. Penta operates a full custom shop for small vehicle modifications to complete builds and restorations. Their impressive facility is home to some incredible custom muscle cars, race cars and classics. Plus, they are long time friends and customers of CCC, so they have to be a good group, right?

When our media team initially visited Penta prior to the photo shoot one particular vehicle caught our eye. Penta Motorsports has a fleet of custom Daimler and Porsche autos, but this 1965 Sunbeam Tiger MK1A was impressive. Steve Sanett, founder of Penta Motorsports, recently completed a ground up restoration of this vehicle. Under the hood is a Ford 302 with aluminum heads that has 415 hp. With its 4-speed transmission this Tiger goes 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.

Penta Motorsports facility repairs, builds and maintains a variety of automobiles for every type of enthusiast.

17th Annual Canoga Park Dia de los Muertos Festival and Car Show 2016

Last Sunday was the annual Canoga Park Street Fair to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. The festival features a large family festival, food vendors, performances and a classic car show. When possible I enjoy cruising over to this event to see what kind of customs and lowriders show up to take over Sherman Way for a few hours.

Shermany Way is filled with row after row of classic Chevys and customs. It was a beautiful day for a car show in Southern California.

This show always brings out some incredible paint schemes and metal work on these classics.

Supercar Sunday & Dia De Los Muertos Car Shows in the Valley

Supercar Sunday took place yesterday at the Westfield Promenade in Woodland Hills, Ca. It was a sunny day in Southern  California, so plenty of muscle cars, hot rods and exotics parked at the mall for a few hours. There is always plenty to see at SCS, so 100's of auto enthusiasts enjoyed some coffee from Corner Bakery and socialized.

Just up the street from Supercar Sunday was the annual Dia De Los Muertos Car Show and Festival in Canoga Park. This annual event includes a street fair, cultural exhibits and a classic car show. Sherman Way in Canoga Park was blocked between Topanga Canyon and Canoga Ave to allow people to check out the cars and vendors all day on Sunday. 

There was plenty of candy paint and custom details on display at the Dia De Los Muertos show.

Even Ice Cube made an appearance at the show.

Canoga Park's Dia De Los Muertos Festival 2013

 

Yesterday was the annual Dia De Los Muertos Festival in Canoga Park. This annual show celebrates the day of the dead with a street fair, live music and classic car show. The event takes place every year on Sherman Way just a few minutes from California Car Cover. I had the day off, so I cruised over to the festival to check out some of the classic cars.

The festival takes over Sherman Way in Canoga Park between Topanga Canyon Blvd. and Canoga Ave. As you can see, the day long event attracted 100's of classic cars and 1,000s of people to the street fair. I was there to check out the candy paint and chrome, but there were plenty of local food and merchandise vendors on hand.

The show attracted a lot of local car clubs to the area. It was my first time actually checking out the event, so I was glad I was in town to see all the cars.

There were a variety of classic cars on display, but the majority of the cars at the show were 1950's-60's Chevy vehicles. I did not have a problem with that, since I am a big fan of early 50's Chevy sedans.

 The designated car show parking on Sherman Way was filled up, so many classic cars had to park on the side streets or in the parking lots of adjacent businesses.

It was a great day in the San Fernando Valley. There were plenty of activities for the entire family at the Dia De Los Muertos festival.

 This was problem my favorite car at the show. Even though this Chevy convertible was pretty much stock, it sure looked good with its red paint and wide white wall tires.

Many of the cars featured special Dia De Los Muertos decor or special tributes to family members or friends that have passed away. 

 There was plenty of engine detail work on display at the show. Check out the etching and polishing on these engines.
