Penta Motorsports as our Santa's Toy Shop for Holiday 2016

Each year for our annual holiday gift guide, we like to feature a local customer's shop or garage as our Santa's Toy Shop setting. This year, the California Car Cover Media Team only had a short drive over to Penta Motorsports. Penta Motorsports is around the corner from California Car Cover in Canoga Park, Ca. Penta operates a full custom shop for small vehicle modifications to complete builds and restorations. Their impressive facility is home to some incredible custom muscle cars, race cars and classics. Plus, they are long time friends and customers of CCC, so they have to be a good group, right?

When our media team initially visited Penta prior to the photo shoot one particular vehicle caught our eye. Penta Motorsports has a fleet of custom Daimler and Porsche autos, but this 1965 Sunbeam Tiger MK1A was impressive. Steve Sanett, founder of Penta Motorsports, recently completed a ground up restoration of this vehicle. Under the hood is a Ford 302 with aluminum heads that has 415 hp. With its 4-speed transmission this Tiger goes 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.

Penta Motorsports facility repairs, builds and maintains a variety of automobiles for every type of enthusiast.

Scott Roberts' 1954 Mercury Monterey from our Holiday Catalog

Our first holiday catalog of the season features this custom 1954 Mercury Monterey owned by Scott and Holly Roberts. We first spotted this custom Merc at the Grand National Roadster Show earlier this year and knew it would end up one one of our California Car Cover catalog covers. At just about every show it has been to in 2016, it has picked up awards and plenty of love in magazines and online.

If you have been a customer of ours for a while, you are familiar with one of Scott's other custom cars. We featured his beautiful 1941 Ford pickup on a catalog cover back in 2012.

Cadillac hub caps with custom center caps. New suspension and front disc brakes courtesy of Noble Fabrication help it stop.

This custom features a number of subtle modifications. The roof was chopped 3" by John Aiello. John Aiello and Brandon Penserini also took care of the smoothed bumpers, frenched headlights and license plate, custom hood and relocated gas filler. It's also been nosed, shaved and decked, which is hot rod speak for "bad ass."

Chrome trim finished by Sherm's Plating next to the custom mixed Spies Hecker "Chili Verde" paint applied by Brandon Penserini of Altissimo Restoration.

Under the hood of the Monterey is a stock 292 y-block engine.
