SEMA Show 2013 Photo Coverage from Tony DeFrank & California Car Cover

Last week was the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV. The 2013 edition attracted thousands of people from all over the world to the Las Vegas Convention Center. This year's event was larger than any previous SEMA Show that I can recall. It was a busy four days in Las Vegas. Here are quite a few photos from my week at the convention.



Tuesday at SEMA is always a hectic day for me. It is the day that most builders unveil their special SEMA Show vehicles. Many of those builders are customers of California Car Cover, so I enjoy being at the unveiling presentation because these great shops & companies are supporters of our company. This year was a banner year for us, as our covers were used in a number of debuts from Pure Vision, Ringbrothers, Chaotic Customs, Wyotech, Source Interlink, Goodguys, Johnson's Hot Rods and Sherwin Williams. We have complete coverage of our unveiling day on another blog post, but here are a few photos of them.

Our friends at Goodguys debuted their 1969 Chevy Camaro, outfitting in yellow paint and a high performance engine.

 The next stop was over to the HRE Wheels booth for the unveiling of the TT Camaro. Steve Strope and the crew at Pure Vision built an amazing Camaro and we were glad that a California Car Cover could keep it clean and under wraps.

Our next stop was the Source Interlink Media booth were the crew at Muscle Mustangs debuted the Hypersilver Fox body Mustang.

The next stop was to view the Ringbrothers Blizzard Mustang unveiling at the GFS booth. It has become an almost an annual tradition for me to see a California Car Cover on one of the Ringbrothers creations at SEMA. Mike and Jim Ring built another amazing car and we were thrilled to see that the happy owner of the Mustang is a long time customer of CCC.

While the Blizzard was being unveiled, a special project from our friends at Wyotech was also debuting. We have photos of the custom roadster pickup on our unveiling coverage.

Up next was the Charger R/T unveiling. This was another killer muscle car built by our friends at Pure Vision in Simi Valley, Ca.

Our friends at Johnson's Hot Rods rolled out there Studebaker Bonneville car at SEMA. The vehicle participated at Bonneville's Speed Week this summer, but the vehicle made its industry debut at the convention. The car ran 228 mph at the Salt Flats.

To cap off my Tuesday at SEMA, the Ringbrothers had one more unveiling at the show. The team unveiling a specially built 1971 Pantera that attracted a lot of attention.

It was truly "Vandemonium" at the SEMA Show. There were a ton of custom van conversions on display in the car corral. 

The SEMA Show attracts all of the industry's leading companies and people to Las Vegas each year. There were a number of special appearances, autograph sessions, seminars and events to promote the automotive aftermarket.

Even I ran into some reality tv stars. Our friends from CNBC's The Car Chasers were at the show to promote their program and their Ford Mustang Sweepstakes. It was nice to finally meet the cast in person after talking cars on Twitter for so long.

The convention space had a lot of action and excitement, but there was just as much activity taking place outside everyday. Between the Ford demonstrations, vendor displays and custom cars, you could spend a whole day just taking in all of the outdoor attractions.

When you go low at SEMA, you have to go really low to get people's attention. Air bags, camber, frame drop, whatever needs to be done, is done.

The crew at Scot's Hot Rods had their killer Mustang on display all week before it participated in the Optima Battery Ultimate Street Car Challenge.

Back inside there was action from 9am-5pm everyday. There was no time to sit still if I wanted to see everything possible at the show.

The Chevy booth gave me my first opportunity to take a look at the new Z-28 Camaro. It looks pretty good. 

The guys at ICON had a few vehicles on display. Their latest Chevy pickup was in the entrance pavilion and this old Lincoln was in the Optima booth. Don't let the exterior fool you. This car packs plenty of punch. 

The Chevy hatchback on the end actually had a full DJ and multimedia system installed in the cargo area. 

The PPG booth always impresses.

 Chevy showed off a few new prototypes, including the Cheyenne. It has been a while since GM had a high performance pickup on the streets.

Race car drivers Greg Biffle and Scott Pruett were on hand for the unveiling of the custom Buick wagon owned by Scott which was debuted at the Sherwin Williams booth.

Our friend, Migel Armas, whose custom Scion FRS was featured on a 2013 California Car Cover earlier this year, had his vehicle on display in the Winjet booth.

Our friends at Chaotic Customs unveiled a custom hot rod pickup at SEMA. They used one of our Customweave covers to keep the truck clean while waiting to unveil it on Wednesday. Thank you to Mike and everyone at Chaotic Customs for using one of our covers.

Back outside, there was still plenty of action taking place every afternoon. I was fortunately able to check out a lot of the vehicles, plus catch the last Ford Mustang exhibition of the weekend on Thursday afternoon.

The Blessed Motorsports VW was on display.

Vaughn Gittin Jr. thrilled the crowd with some great drift demonstrations and a few, long and smoky burnouts.

The Optima Street Car Challenge vehicles were on display all week before heading out to the test track.

On Friday afternoon, was the SEMA Cruise. The annual parade out of the convention, so all spectators have the chance to check out the custom cars as they leave the show.
